  • Nanocrystalline and ultrafine-grained materials processed by accumulative roll bonding, and pulsed electrodeposition, nanolamellar metallic composites, light weight construction materials, High temperature materials (Ni-base and Co-base superalloys, TiAl alloys, oxide protection coatings), biomaterials, amorphous carbon coatings, diamond coatings
  • Mechanical properties (fracture, fatigue, creep) and deformation mechanisms of nano-materials, residual stresses
  • Microstructural characterization of structural materials by: atomic force microscopy, atom probe microscopy, transmission electron microscopy; in-situ deformation; tomography by FIB
  • Nanomechanics: nanoindentations, microcantilever testing, bulge testing of thin films, size effects and strain gradient plasticity, in-situ deformation studies, Interfaces and coatings, interface strength
